What Do You See in the Mirror?

Before we start, what do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you love what you see? Do you hate what you see? In truth, the majority of people, although they might avoid the word ‘hate’, do not like what they see and it is completely saddening. Of the two – love or hate, there will certainly be more people saying ‘hate’ than ‘love’ and this is a real shame.

If you don’t like what you see, you have to dig deeper and really find out more. Why don’t you like what you’re seeing when you look into the mirror? As soon as you find the root cause of the problem, you can start to rewrite your own story so whenever you catch a glance in the mirror, you can’t help but smile. With this being said, let’s look at some ways to start.

Lose Comparisons – Whether we choose to blame the media and celebrities or not, we have developed this habit of comparing ourselves to others. If it isn’t celebrities and famous people, we choose to compare ourselves to friends, colleagues, family members, and everyone else on this planet. However, you have to realize that you are completely unique and that comparing isn’t going to get you anywhere.

Because you are human, you are going to have things that you are good at as well as things that you are not so good at; why do we choose to compare ourselves to people who are completely different and boast different skills?

Give Credit – Another habit that we have created for ourselves is to focus on the negatives – ‘oh, I can’t believe this is happening to me’ and ‘that bad review has really upset me’ are both types of comments that can be heard frequently. Rather than choosing to focus on the good things, we like to focus on the negatives so it is no wonder that we lack confidence. If we host a dinner party and ten people had the night of their lives whilst one person didn’t have fun, we always focus on the one person rather than the ten but this needs to change.

Surround Yourself with Positivity – Although we are partly to blame ourselves, we can also portion some of the blame of this negativity to the negative people around us. For this reason, you have to surround yourself with people who are positive and boost your confidence. When you have confidence, it becomes easy to love yourself and the reflection looking back at you will be smiling.

Learn Lessons – Finally, if you dislike yourself because of certain mistakes, you have to learn to let go and move on. As long as you learn a lesson, you can move on without regret while making progress at the same time.

No matter how old you are, there is always enough time to love yourself and feel love when you look in the mirror. By following the tips given above, you can start this process today and begin to Live Life Fully.
