Importance of A Best Friend

In life, we meet many people along the way and some of them we like to call our ‘friends’. However, we normally only tend to pick up a couple of ‘best’ friends on the journey. Sometimes, we bond over playing with toys at school and never look back and other times we are simply introduced through a mutual friend. However it happens, best friends are normally there to stay and they provide unconditional support through thick and thin. If you find someone like this, treat them well and never let them go because you just might regret it if you do.

In the story we call ‘life’, best friends are important because they give honest opinions. Whether it helps with a career move or a personal relationship, they are the voice that we don’t want to hear. Quite often, they are the voice of reason that we don’t want to believe even though we know they are right. When they offer this advice, we often trust it with our lives and stay on the right track. The longer we know our best friend, the more valuable their opinion becomes and this makes life that little bit easier.

Furthermore, best friends can also give us a boost when it comes to self-esteem and confidence. The very meaning of having a best friend means that we have someone who values us, values our opinions, and thinks that we are important. When someone does this for us, it makes us feel wanted and this is important in life. When we have this little boost in self-esteem, we can walk through life with more energy and confidence.

Additionally, we all need someone to trust and this is often the best friend. If you have been friends ever since the school days, the two of you would have been through things that people can only imagine. After each tough situation, the relationship gets even stronger. Even during the arguments and spending time apart, absence makes the heart grow fonder and the relationship still grows in these conditions. Whilst colleagues and other friends may come and go, having this trust by your side can be an amazing feeling.

If we flip the situation around, we can also learn a lot by giving our best friend advice too. Whilst the advice they give helps us to progress and learn lessons, the advice we give also helps us to feel good and makes us feel valued once more. Whenever your friend comes to you for advice, this means that they value your opinion the most out of nearly seven billion people on this planet.

Sometimes as best friends no advice is even needed.  Best friends are often times the best listeners, and the people you who you can really be yourself with.  Often best friends are the only people you can express your emotions with freely.  They can hear your anger, hold your hand as you cry, and celebrate the best of life with you.

As you can see, best friends are important and you should always remember this if you hit a rough patch or lose contact for a little while. Perhaps above all else, best friends allow us to have fun and Live Life Fully.
